For over 80 years, Adidas has been part of the world of sports at all levels. Their product range includes sports shoes, clothing and state-of-the-art equipment. Adidas Group is a world leader in the sporting goods industry today, offering a comprehensive product portfolio. Products of the adidas Group are available in almost every country in the world.
The challenge
A lot has happened in the technology world. In the past, companies had to acquire and maintain large servers for file sharing and services. Especially backup of data could only be done on cumbersome tape drives, which made subsequent restoration expensive and time-consuming. The requirement was to back up data servers with larger amounts of data to other servers at regular intervals. The ability to access data quickly even in an emergency was important.
Adidas employs more than 42,000 people worldwide who authenticate themselves through the Active Directory domain. Thus a solution which allows seamless integration into the domain was required. Access across locations in Europe, Asia and the US was also needed.
The solution
After a successful trial, Adidas decided to use the euroNAS Premium product. It has been successfully used at 3 different locations in Europe, America and Asia. Easy to use, the installation and configuration was done in no time. The EuroNAS Premium products have been integrated into the existing, centrally managed, over 60,000 entries large Active Directory environment. Very convenient management of the access to the network shares was thus enabled.
The integrated “Client-Backup” functionality takes care of backing up other data servers. The euroNAS software presents itself as a network client when accessing the data servers and backs them up at a specified time. To increase the performance only changed bytes are copied. This speeds up replication and protects the network.
By eliminating the need for a backup agent, Client Backup provides a backup solution for virtually every other type of data server on the market. In addition to backup to tape drives, it also guarantees a fast backup access in an emergency.
The server reliability is ensured by a variety of features. Thanks to network card bundling, the server is still secured even if a single network card fails. The data is stored in a RAID array so that it can be reached even in the event of a hard drive failure.
