N24 is Germany’s leading news channel and reports on the developments in politics, economics and society. On N24.de, the apps and screens the transport stations throught the germany inform around the clock about current develpments. N24 is receivable in 93 percent of all German households having more than 4.5 million viewers on a daily basis.
The Challenge
For a modern news channel there is a huge need to convert various material workflows and videos to other formats. For this, a transcoding farm, consisting of multiple servers that accesses a central storage is used. The aim was to find a high-performance storage solution that works reliably 24/7 and still offers a good price-performance ratio. Another important criteria is the reliable technical support.
The solution
Especially a very good service and the flexibility of the software convinced N24.
Various servers based on euroNAS Storage Software are used as a central data server for transcoding farm and file transfers.
To meet the various requirements, euroNAS is used with different hardware. Some rely on high speeds, such as the server with 22 x 512 GB SSD drives which reaches internal data rates of up to 3.8 GB/s, others on high capacity and high I/O rate (96TB with 48 x 2TB SAS drives).
We have not regretted the decision for euroNAS systems. As centralized systems in transcoding and file transfer environment they work reliably in 24/7 environment
