The Network Backup Restore feature allows you to recover virtual machines from a backup stored on a Backup Server. You can choose to:
- Restore to a new VM – A new virtual machine will be created automatically.
- Replace an existing VM – If a VM with the same name already exists, you can overwrite it.
- Restore a missing VM – If the VM does not exist, it will be restored with its original configuration.
This flexible approach ensures that you can quickly recover your virtual machines with minimal effort, whether you need to restore a lost VM or create a duplicate for testing purposes.
To restore a virtual machine from a Network Backup, follow these steps:
1. In “VM Network Backup Management”, click on “Restore”.
2. Select the Backup Server from which you want to restore the VM.
3. Choose the virtual machine you want to restore.
4. Select the specific backup version you wish to restore.
5. If a virtual machine with the same name already exists, you have two options:
– Create a new VM from the backup.
– Replace the existing VM with the backup version.
6. If you choose to create a new VM, you can enter a new name for the restored machine.
7. Select the target drive where the virtual machine will be restored.
8. Review the summary to ensure all settings are correct, then click “Start” to begin the restoration process.
9. You can monitor the progress in VM Network Backup Management. Once the restoration is complete, the virtual machine will appear in VM Management, ready for use.
