Not locked to a specific hardware

Traditional storage server manufacturers often offer proprietary hardware tailored to their systems. Future expansions are very expensive or force you to buy more units. With euroNAS, you continue to rely on the hardware of your trust, but mostly at significantly lower costs than for proprietary storage servers.

Software-defined storage

euroNAS supports most servers on the market, but you can also run it as a cost-effective virtual storage appliance within a virtualized environment. You can connect your existing server to euroNAS and make more out of it.

Client support

euroNAS supports all relevant clients in their native environment. eg Microsoft Windows (XP, 7, 8, 2003/2008/2012, Hyper-V), VMware ESX / ESXi, Mac OS X including XSAN, StorNext, Citrix XenServer 5.x / 6.x, Linux, Unix.

Active Directory

Your server can be set up as a member of an Active Directory domain. Users and passwords are then automatically synchronized with the domain. This makes it much easier for system administrators to manage users and permissions.

SMB/ CIFS support

euroNAS products support access via SMB protocol (SMB versions 1, 2 and 3) / CIFS

AFP support incl. Spotlight

AFP is the first choice for the MAC environments. euroNAS Premium also supports Spotlight. Thanks to Spotlight, the content on the server can be found instantly by the MAC clients. Indexing is taken over by euroNAS, which relieves the load on the clients and speeds up the search.

NFS support

Thanks to NFS support, connecting Linux / Unix clients or virtualization servers is very easy.

iSCSI incl. VAAI

iSCSI allows packing the SCSI commands into Ethernet packets for transport over IP networks. The iSCSI drive is located on the euroNAS server and can be on a single drive, integrated raid, or hardware raid. On the client, the drive appears as a local hard drive. It is possible to create multiple iSCSI drives on a drive and to enlarge them at any time. VAAI (vStorage API for Array Integration) support relieves the strain on the ESX Server. Chap authentication and LUN masking improves security.

Fiber Channel incl. VAAI (Optional)

Fiber Channel is the first choice for enterprise environments. euroNAS Premium offers the maximum constant I / O speeds. With SAN Cluster you also get the maximum accessibility with constant performance. VAAI (vStorage API for Array Integration) support offloads the ESX Server. This functionality requires at least one QLogic HBA controller (4, 8 or 16 GBit)

Hybrid cache tiering

With euroNAS Hybrid Storage Cache Tiering you get the best of both worlds. You can merge your SSD and SATA / SAS drives to get the maximum capacity AND maximum I / O rate.

euroNAS automatically analyzes the incoming data transfer and moves the blocks of data that are frequently accessed to the faster (SSD) drives. The longer the server is used, the better it adapts and the more effective the symbiosis becomes.

Snapshots

euroNAS snapshots are a useful supplement to the usual data backups and allow a very fast recovery of the data.

With the euroNAS Snapshot functionality, the data can be backed up from a given point of time with almost no performance loss and high memory consumption.

Server synchronization

euroNAS server synchronization is ideal for local backup of data (eg to a local drive), data replication to another euroNAS Backup Server, or data distribution between different offices.

Server synchronization uses its own checksum algorithm to synchronize (replicate) the data locally or over a network. For copying large files, only changed bytes within this file are synchronized to increase performance. This speeds up replication and protects the network.

Client backup

euroNAS Premium offers the possibility to import data from another server at a time of your choice: euroNAS is compatible with almost all comparable server systems. euroNAS pretends to be a client when accessing the data to be downloaded – at a time that you specify, making euroNAS Client Backup a backup solution for almost all other NAS server types.

Hardware RAID

In addition to the integrated Raid, euroNAS also supports a large number of hardware raid controllers.

With the help of the Hardware Raid Manager, it is possible not only to read out the status of the Raid network, but also to configure it directly in the software.

The Hardware Raid Manager helps to initialize the disks, create a raid / volume, define a spare drive or read out the log files of the controller.

The euroNAS HW Raid Manager automatically detects the supported Raid Controller and adapts to it – only the functions relevant to this Raid Controller are displayed (in a uniform interface).
For a list of supported controllers, see the Support section

Software RAID

In addition to the excellent hardware raid controller support, euroNAS also helps to significantly reduce the costs of a redundant storage system: euroNAS products also offer a particularly reliable, easy-to-manage integrated RAID functionality.

With euroNAS Software Raid you can connect all hard disks connected to your server to a euroNAS Software Raid. euroNAS Software Raid hardly differ in functionality from the high-end hardware raid controllers.

APC UPS

euroNAS Server will automatically shut down when battery power is low. Email notification will inform you about power outages. APC network and USB devices are supported.

Network bonding

Network ports can be bundled to achieve the highest possible redundancy and throughput.

E-Mail notification

euroNAS will inform you about hard drive failure, power outages and UPS events.
