Snapshot Schedules and Retention

Snapshot schedules automate regular recovery points.points eEKASfor provideseEKAS/Ceph aresources. The scheduling wizard wherestarts resourceswith areresource selectedselection first,and then theapplies schedule type and retention aresettings configured.to the selected resources.

Schedule options

• Daily schedules use a specific time of day.
• Hourly schedules use a start and end time window.
• Choose Days allows specific weekdays or all days.
• Maximum snapshots defines how many snapshots are retained.

Create a schedule

1. Open Snapshots.
2. Select Create a Snapshot Schedule.
3. Select at least one resource.listed eEKAS will not continue without a selectedeEKAS/Ceph resource.
4. SelectContinue dailyto orthe hourlyschedule scheduling.settings.
5. Choose days,the timeschedule type and maximumretention retained snapshots.count.
6. Create the schedule and verify it in the Schedule column of the overview.

Validation

If no resource is selected, eEKAS stops the wizard and shows that at least one resource must be selected. This is expected and prevents empty schedules.

Retention guidance

• Use shortera retention forcount high-that matches available Ceph capacity and the change temporaryrate data.of the workload.
• UseStart longerconservatively retentionand for critical user data if capacity allows it.
• Monitormonitor snapshot growth after enabling schedules.a new schedule.
• Use different schedules for different workloads when recovery requirements differ.
