euroNAS Premium Plus – Powerful, Flexible Storage Platform for Every Business Environment

euroNAS Premium Plus is a robust, multi-functional storage operating system engineered for demanding enterprise and SME environments. Whether you’re deploying a high-performance NAS, a reliable backend for virtualisation, or a unified file and block server, Premium Plus provides the tools, flexibility, and performance to support a wide range of storage scenarios.

One of its greatest strengths is the ability to choose between two powerful modes of operation: run Premium Plus in ZFS mode for advanced data integrity and redundancy features, or in standard mode using the XFS file system for efficient, high-speed storage. This choice allows administrators to tailor their system to the specific needs of their infrastructure and workloads.

Dual Operating Modes – Your Storage, Your Choice

ZFS Mode

Ideal when data protection, advanced features, and integrated RAID are a top priority.

  • End-to-end checksumming to detect and correct silent data corruption
  • Integrated software RAID (RAID-Z, mirrors, stripes)
  • Unlimited snapshots
  • Inline data compression
  • Self-healing capabilities
  • Advanced caching (ARC/L2ARC) for fast reads

Standard Mode (XFS)

Perfect for environments using external RAID controllers or where maximum performance and minimal overhead are required.

  • Scalable, high-performance journaling file system
  • Optimised for metadata-heavy operations
  • Lower memory and CPU footprint compared to ZFS
  • Ideal for traditional NAS deployments
  • Simpler configuration with familiar RAID options

Premium Plus lets you choose the right file system for each deployment — whether your focus is integrity, speed, simplicity, or a balance of all three.

Core Features

  • Multi-Protocol Support – SMB/CIFS, NFS, AFP, FTP, iSCSI, NVMe-oF (incl. RDMA, RoCE, and InfiniBand)
  • Virtualisation-Ready – Compatible with eEVOS, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, and other virtualisation platforms
Supports VAAI (vStorage APIs for Array Integration) for offloading VM-related storage tasks to reduce load and improve performance in VMware environments
  • Snapshot Support – Create scheduled snapshots
  • Active Directory integration, granular ACLs, quota enforcement, and multi-user management
  • Performance Monitoring & Alerting – Real-time system health, storage usage, and event reporting via automated email alerts
  • Modern Web Interface – Full-featured, intuitive GUI for complete system management — no CLI expertise required

Built for Modern Workloads

Whether you’re using dedicated hardware or running euroNAS Premium Plus in a virtual machine, it supports a wide range of professional applications:

  • Cross-platform file sharing for Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Virtualisation backend for VM storage and live disk access
  • Block-level targets for databases, high-speed applications, and containers
  • High-throughput storage for video production and media workflows
  • Secure, scalable infrastructure for backup and archival

Summary

  • Run in ZFS mode for advanced data integrity or XFS mode for performance and simplicity
  • Supports modern block storage protocols including NVMe-oF with RDMA, RoCE, and InfiniBand
  • FUSE-based NVMe-oF command support for flexible deployment
  • VAAI support for optimised VMware integration
  • Broad protocol compatibility and flexible deployment models
  • Ideal for both SMBs and enterprise-grade infrastructure

Caching and Hybrid Acceleration

Performance is not limited by spinning disks.
Premium Plus employs a two tier cache design with ARC in RAM and optional L2ARC on SSD or NVMe to absorb reads and writes at memory speed.
Administrators can add dedicated log or cache devices per pool, tuning for throughput or latency without service interruption.
Hybrid cache tiering automatically promotes hot data to faster media, merging the capacity of HDDs with the speed of flash.
The system continuously learns and adapts, improving efficiency over time.

Data Protection and Snapshots

Snapshots in Premium Plus are instantaneous, space efficient and low impact.
They record only changes since the last snapshot and can be scheduled hourly or daily per dataset, share or iSCSI target.
Rollback is immediate by selecting a restore point and reverting.
For ZFS pools, snapshots operate at block level; for XFS or iSCSI volumes, snapshots are managed through the LVM layer with reserved space allocation to ensure validity.
Replication and scheduled snapshots together form a self contained backup and recovery framework that requires no external orchestration.

Management and Visibility

All configuration and monitoring are consolidated in the euroNAS web interface.
Dashboards show system load, I/O wait, disk latency and bandwidth in real time.
Administrators can create pools, manage shares, schedule snapshots and connect to Active Directory without shell access.
Critical alerts are colour coded and delivered by email; thresholds and notifications are adjustable per system.
Everything you need to run enterprise storage sits behind a clean, predictable interface.

Security and Access Control

User and group management integrates directly with Windows Active Directory, simplifying authentication across SMB, NFS, AFP and FTP.
Each share carries its own permission model, supporting both local and domain accounts.
For iSCSI and NVMe targets, CHAP authentication and IP restrictions enforce access control at the transport layer.
The admin interface uses HTTPS with certificate enforcement and role based access.
Configuration changes are logged for audit, and no anonymous control channels exist by default.

Performance and Scaling

From a single server to multi node environments, Premium Plus scales linearly.
ZFS pools grow by adding vdevs, RAID arrays expand with additional drives and caches can be attached live.
The architecture is CPU agnostic across Xeon, EPYC and ARM platforms and is multi threaded throughout.
Whether serving as a stand alone NAS, a virtualisation datastore or a backup target, it maintains high IOPS and sustained throughput under load.

Built for Every Environment

Premium Plus suits data centres, broadcast, CAD, surveillance and any workload demanding integrity and sustained throughput.
It can act as a primary file server, a block storage host for VMware or Hyper V, or a backup node replicating from edge appliances.
Its consistent behaviour across hardware tiers makes it equally suitable for core and remote sites.
