Mirrored Hosts in eEVOS provide a streamlined high-availability architecture that ensures critical services remain online even in the event of hardware failure — without requiring shared storage or external storage systems. This configuration uses real-time block-level replication between two hosts, allowing both to maintain an identical, fully synchronized copy of VM data at all times.
This solution is ideal for smaller environments, edge locations, and dedicated deployments where simplicity, reliability, and fast failover are essential.
How It Works
Each host operates its own set of virtual machines and stores the data on its local drives. All write operations are immediately replicated to the second host — synchronously and at the block level. This means that both hosts always maintain an up-to-date, byte-for-byte identical copy of the VM storage.
If one host fails:
- The second host already contains the complete data
- eEVOS automatically restarts the affected virtual machines on the healthy host
- No restoration, reconfiguration, or data resync is required — services resume within seconds
This approach delivers true high availability with minimal complexity and zero data loss.

Core Features
- Synchronous Block-Level Replication
Every disk write is mirrored in real time, ensuring both hosts are always in sync. - Automatic Failover
If one host becomes unavailable, VMs are automatically restarted on the remaining host. - No Shared Storage Required
Eliminates the need for SAN, NAS, or distributed storage systems like Ceph. - Independent Storage Per Host
Each host uses its own local drives (HDD, SSD, or hybrid), reducing costs and improving performance. - Optional Local RAID
Add further redundancy per host with RAID, complementing the real-time replication. - Centralized Web Management
Setup and monitoring are handled entirely through the eEVOS web interface — no third-party tools or CLI required.
Ideal Scenarios
- SMB and branch office deployments
- Edge environments with strict uptime requirements
- Standalone systems needing full redundancy
- Workloads where performance and availability must coexist without shared storage
Key Advantages
- True high availability using just 2 hosts
- Instant recovery with no data loss
- Simpler architecture than shared storage or cluster-based setups
- Seamless integration with eEVOS HA and cluster management
- Fully GUI-controlled and easy to deploy
