eEVOS – VM Cloning

VM Cloning allows administrators to create new virtual machines instantly from existing snapshots or templates. eEVOS uses a space-efficient method that references common data blocks, ensuring clones require minimal additional storage until diverging from the source. This makes cloning ideal for test environments, rapid deployments, patch testing, or producing multiple instances of an application quickly.

Clones inherit the state of the snapshot they were created from including OS, configuration, and installed applications. This eliminates the need to re-install or manually configure new VMs from scratch, significantly reducing deployment times. eEVOS also allows administrators to convert clones into fully independent VMs whenever needed.

Because cloning is deeply integrated into the eEVOS storage engine, performance remains consistent even when generating large numbers of cloned machines. The platform automatically manages underlying block references and isolates I/O paths to prevent contention with production workloads.

Cloning also supports advanced workflows such as golden-image management, QA testing, temporary recovery environments, and instant provisioning of training or development systems. With eEVOS, cloning becomes a natural extension of the virtualisation lifecycle rather than a complex, manual procedure.
