eEVOS – VM Snapshots

VM Snapshots in eEVOS provide point-in-time copies of virtual machines, enabling fast, efficient protection against accidental deletion, corruption, or configuration errors. eEVOS uses a copy-on-write mechanism that records only changed blocks, drastically reducing storage overhead and avoiding the performance penalties associated with full-copy backups.

Snapshots can be created manually or scheduled as part of ongoing protection policies. Because they occur while VMs remain online, they allow administrators to capture consistent system states without downtime. eEVOS also maintains metadata that ensures snapshots remain application-safe, particularly for databases or transactional workloads.

When browsing snapshots, administrators can revert a VM to any earlier state or create new VM in seconds. This rollback mechanism is extremely useful during failed upgrades, misconfigurations, or ransomware events where reverting to a clean state is the fastest recovery path. Snapshots integrate cleanly with backup, cloning, and DR workflows, enabling end-to-end lifecycle management.

By embedding snapshot capabilities directly into the eEVOS storage and virtualisation stack, the system avoids reliance on agents or hypervisor-specific plug-ins.
