Shared Storage in eEVOS – Flexible, Multi-Host Access with Broad Protocol Support

Shared Storage in eEVOS offers centralised, high-performance storage that can be accessed by multiple hosts simultaneously. It’s designed for environments that require consistency, scalability, and seamless integration with high availability (HA) and live migration features. This approach is ideal for structured IT infrastructures where central storage management is a priority.

Unlike mirrored hosts or distributed storage systems like Ceph, shared storage uses external or central storage resources that allow all eEVOS hosts to access the same volumes concurrently, without the need for local data replication.

Extensive Protocol Support for Seamless Integration

eEVOS supports a wide range of industry-standard storage protocols, enabling smooth integration with both modern and legacy systems:

  • iSCSI – Widely used for IP-based SANs
  • NVMe-oF – RDMA High-speed, low-latency access over Infiniband or RoCE
  • NVMe over TCP – NVMe performance using standard Ethernet infrastructure
  • Fibre Channel (FC) – Suitable for enterprise SANs with demanding throughput and reliability
  • SAS – For direct-attached or switched access in local or shared storage configurations

This flexibility allows you to build a storage solution that meets your specific performance, compatibility, and infrastructure needs.

True Multi-Host Access

All eEVOS hosts can access the same shared storage volumes at the same time, enabling:

  • Live VM migration without needing to transfer disk data
  • High availability clustering with shared access to VM disks
  • Centralised backup and storage management
  • Improved storage efficiency without redundant data replication between hosts

Benefits of Shared Storage Architecture

  • Central storage layer accessible by all cluster hosts
  • Supports legacy SANs and modern NVMe-based deployments
  • Ideal for larger, structured environments with clear separation of compute and storage
  • Fully managed via the eEVOS web interface
  • Enables seamless integration with HA, live migration, and backup workflows

Ideal Use Cases

  • Data centres with existing SAN infrastructure
  • Virtualised environments with high IOPS and throughput needs
  • HA clusters requiring shared disk access
  • Scenarios where centralised storage management is a key requirement

Summary

  • Simultaneous multi-host access to shared storage
  • Supports iSCSI, NVMe-oF, NVMe/TCP, Fibre Channel, and SAS
  • No data replication required at host level – all data is centrally managed
  • Designed for HA, live VM migration, and central VM administration
  • Fully controlled through the eEVOS graphical interface
