About the Company
About 81 000 people live in Villingen-Schwenningen, the upper center of the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region. The city with the equally Baden Württemberg as roots is centrally located in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland – the heart of Europe. Villingen-Schwenningen is about much more than an excellent quality of life: The city offers ideal conditions for a continuously growing economy. Many high-tech companies, but also a variety of research and training institutions provide a unique network in an intact infrastructure.
The Challenge
In the city administration Villingen-Schwenningen the existing virtual infrastructure is backed up by Veeam on a Fibre Channel appliance. Before they decided to use euroNAS, a solution from Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) was used for the task.
Over time, the amount of data grew and a new reliable backup solution was needed. For the seamless integration with the existing infrastructure, the new solution had to provide the storage over Fibre Channel.
The Solution
In the city administration, there was already an existing server with 37.5 TB of net storage space incl expansion unit, therefore the use of euroNAS Storage Software was logical step. After the quick and easy installation of euroNAS, Veeam Backup was able to use new new storage.
euroNAS is now running reliably since years
