Upgrading a Windows 10 VM to Windows 11 in eEVOS

To upgrade a Windows 10 virtual machine (VM) to Windows 11 in eEVOS, follow these steps carefully:

1. Backup the VM

Before starting the upgrade, create a backup of your VM:

Open the eEVOS web interface.

Go to Virtual Machines → select your Windows 10 VM.

Click on Create Backup.

Choose a destination and complete the backup process.

Important: Without a backup, upgrade failures may result in data loss.

2. Check the Current Boot Mode

Inside the Windows 10 VM:

Open the Start Menu, type msinfo32, and press Enter.

Look for BIOS Mode to see if it says UEFI or Legacy.

If “UEFI” is shown: proceed to Step 3.
If “Legacy” is shown: convert the system to UEFI/GPT:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator.

Run the following command:

mbr2gpt.exe /convert /allowFullOS

After a successful conversion, shut down the VM.

3. Adjust VM Settings in eEVOS

Once converted to UEFI, adjust the VM’s configuration:

In eEVOS, open the VM Settings.

Apply the following changes:

Machine Type: q35

Firmware: UEFI

TPM Module: Enable

CPU Mode: CPU Passthrough

Save the settings and start the VM.

4. Perform the Windows 11 Upgrade

Once the VM boots successfully with the new configuration:

Download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from Microsoft, or use Windows Update.

Follow the instructions to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

After the upgrade completes, your Windows 11 VM will be fully operational in eEVOS.
