Uplinks and Connectivity
Uplinks connect a virtual switch to the physical network. euroNAS SDN manages uplink assignment so that connectivity remains structured and predictable across the cluster.
Single uplink configuration
A node can attach one physical uplink to a virtual switch. This is a straightforward configuration and is suitable for many deployments.
Multiple uplinks
Where more than one physical port is assigned to the same virtual switch on a node, euroNAS SDN groups those links into a managed bonded connection. This provides an orderly method for handling redundant or multi-link connectivity.
Bonding behaviour
Bonded uplinks provide resilience and help maintain connectivity if one of the assigned links is unavailable.
Loop prevention
Loop prevention is enabled by default to reduce the risk of network loops and to improve operational safety in switched network topologies.
Recommended design
- Use one uplink per node unless multiple links are intentionally required
- Where multiple links are used on the same node, configure them as a bonded connection
- Keep uplink design consistent across nodes where possible
- Review connectivity health before migration or maintenance work
