Creating and Managing Snapshots

Manual snapshots in eEKAS are created from the Ceph Snapshots page. Use them before maintenance, client-side data migrations or other changes where a quick recovery point is useful.

Create an on-demand snapshot

  1. Open Snapshots.
  2. Select Create Snapshot.
  3. Select the Ceph-backed resource that should receive a snapshot.
  4. Confirm the snapshot creation.
  5. Return to the overview and verify the snapshot count and last snapshot timestamp.

Management tasks

  • Use the snapshot count to detect resources without protection.
  • Review the Last Snapshot column after maintenance windows or scheduled jobs.
  • Remove obsolete snapshots according to the operational retention policy.
  • Do not document or troubleshoot classic filesystem snapshot behavior in this eEKAS section; those workflows belong to separate euroNAS product areas.

Before production use

Test snapshot creation and restore behavior with a non-critical Ceph resource first. Confirm that the expected resource appears in the Ceph Snapshots overview before relying on the procedure for production workloads.
