iSCSI Targets

iSCSI targets present eEKAS storage to client servers as block storage. From the client side, the exported target appears similar to a local disk and is normally formatted or managed by the operating system or hypervisor.

Best practices

  • Use dedicated client networks for block storage traffic where possible.
  • Use multipath on clients when the environment requires high availability.
  • Do not mount the same block device read-write from multiple hosts unless the upper layer is cluster-aware.
  • Document the initiator IQN, target name, IP Group and backing volume together.
