The Shares & Targets area is used to publish cluster storage to client systems. In eEKAS, file shares and block targets are attached to an IP Group, which controls where the service runs and how it can fail over between cluster nodes.
When to use this section
Use Cluster Shares when clients need shared file access, for example SMB or NFS access to a shared project or backup location.
Use iSCSI Targets when a server should see remote eEKAS storage as a block device.
Use NVMe-oF Targets for low-latency block access over NVMe/TCP or, when the network supports it, RDMA/RoCE.
Use IP Groups before creating shares or targets. They define the service IPs and the preferred node for access.
Recommended workflow
Create or verify the required cluster drive.
Create an IP Group with the client-facing service IP address or addresses.
Create the share or target and attach it to the correct drive and IP Group.
Connect clients, then verify runtime status from the management page.
Add snapshots and monitoring once the service is in production.
