Snapshots - Overview and Concepts

In eEKAS, the Snapshot section is focused on Ceph-backed storage resources. It shows Ceph snapshot status for resources and provides actions for creating manual snapshots and snapshot schedules.

What the overview shows

  • Resource Name identifies the protected eEKAS/Ceph resource.
  • Volume Name shows the related Ceph-backed volume.
  • Type identifies the resource type reported by eEKAS.
  • Number of Snapshots and Last Snapshot show the current protection state.
  • Schedule indicates whether an automatic snapshot schedule is configured.

Typical workflow

  1. Open Snapshots in the eEKAS UI.
  2. Review existing Ceph snapshot resources and snapshot counts.
  3. Create an on-demand snapshot before maintenance or risky data changes.
  4. Create a schedule for production resources that need regular recovery points.
  5. Review retention and restore procedures regularly.

This eEKAS guide covers Ceph/eEKAS snapshots only. Classic filesystem and share snapshot workflows from other euroNAS products belong to their own product documentation and should not be mixed into the eEKAS guide.
